Ingredients:
3/4 cup of warm milk
1/4 cup honey (can substitute with 1/3 cup of sugar)
1 Tbsp yeast
1/4 cup yogurt
1 egg
Vanilla
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 cups flour
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Tbsp Baking Powder
For the filling:
100 g of warm melted butter,
2-3 cups of pitted dates
2 Tbsp of cinnamon
1/2 Teaspoon of instant coffee Vanilla.
Directions:
Mix the warm milk, honey(sugar), yeast, yogurt and 1 cup of flour in a bowl. Let the mixture rest for 15 minutes.
Add the egg, vegetable oil and few drops of vanilla to it and mix throughly.
Finish up the dough by adding the rest of the flour, salt and baking powder. Knead the dough for few minutes then let it rest for an hour.
Using the food processor, mix all the filling ingredients together until a soft dough of dates form. Cool in the fridge.
When the dough is ready, roll it to a big rectangle with a thickness of few mm only.
Between two baking papers roll the dates into a big rectangle that's approximately equal in size to the dough's rectangle and then place it on top of the dough.
Roll the dough into a cylinder and cut It into equal sized rolls ( for best results use a thin thread for cutting).
Place the rolls in the baking tray leaving spaces between them. Let them rest for 40 min.
Bake in a preheated 180°C oven until golden brown from top and bottom.
Serve alone or with your choice of frosting.
Enjoy!
